Humans depend on natural ecosystems for a range of services for survival and well-being. With widespread urbanisation, modernisation, and globalisation, along with the primacy of capitalist economic models, reliance on ecosystems has become diluted or difficult to maintain. This report presents findings of a situation analysis of arid and semi-arid lands of southern Africa.
